TS Conductor has been named a 2026 Public Utilities Fortnightly Top Innovator in the “Grid Infrastructure, Safety & Resilience — Edith Clarke Award” category. The award recognizes the company not just for its breakthrough Aluminum Encapsulated Carbon Core (AECC) technology, but for successfully deploying it at scale alongside its utility partners to improve grid capacity and reliability.
Edith Clarke, for whom the award is named, was the first woman employed professionally as an electrical engineer in the U.S. Her work on long-distance transmission lines during the 1920s helped shape the modern grid. A century later, moving more power around the country is once again one of our most pressing challenges.
Modernizing power grids requires solutions that increase capacity, minimize losses, and work flawlessly in the field. TS Conductor’s next-generation AECC delivers transformational performance (two to three times the capacity of a traditional conductor while cutting line losses by up to 50%), with the reliability, durability, and installation ease of traditional conductors. AECC lowers project costs on both reconductoring and new transmission builds, helping keep customer bills down.
As an American-owned, woman-owned company with vertically integrated manufacturing operations on both the East and West coasts, TS Conductor is proud to be recognized by PUF for the real-world benefits it’s delivering for utilities across the country and particularly proud to receive an award named for one of the first women to work as a professional electrical engineer.
The award highlights utility partners who have led the way with AECC. Montana-Dakota Utilities (MDU) used AECC for an 11-mile reconductoring project that saved 40% on estimated construction costs and was completed a full year ahead of schedule. Salt River Project (SRP) used AECC to upgrade an 8.5-mile double circuit 230kV line, unlocking significantly more capacity without having to replace existing towers, and finishing the project well under budget.
Forward-looking utilities around the world have also deployed AECC, including Arizona Public Service, Basin Electric Power Cooperative, NextEra Energy, and Tennessee Valley Authority in the U.S.
“It’s an honor to receive this Top Innovator award on behalf of everyone at TS,” said Jason Huang, PhD, CEO of TS Conductor. “The real credit goes to our utility partners who had the vision to deploy AECC at scale. The energy transition demands real-world solutions, not just theoretical concepts. Whether utilities are reconductoring existing lines or building new ones, AECC lowers project costs, ultimately saving customers money. We’re excited to continue helping utilities meet surging electricity demand more quickly and affordably.”
